Woman (Two Poems For International Women’s Day)

Woman (1)

We see the beautiful face
And the generous bosoms
We see the long lithe stems
And the curved rear
We see the slender black tresses
And the ruby lip gloss
We see the rounded hips
And the puppy tummy fat
We see every minor detail of form
Of a graceful gender
Except her heart’s grace

Woman (2)

Every woman
Stares at her body on the face of a mirror
And sees a muse in perfect symmetry
In the paradox of an inescapable inequality
Trapped to the luster of her skin
As the perennial mannequin
Yet bearing a lopsided biology
As the Madonna of fecundity
