First Love

Window Woman

I stood at the verge of history
Gazing at your visage ripple to a smile
The lass that I swam towards that fated day
Who fossilized inside my rib-cage

And now I’m the mad man
Searching for that missing link
From where creatures with wings evolved
The plumage, the color and the song

You, that baffling species
Of my still-convoluted hope
In my home-schooled science
Of ornithology
