In love……
You negotiate the chores
Who carries the frisky broom…
And who wears the flowered apron…
You make deals over the counter
Of lips in imperfect equilibrium
Transaction made by lip-smack in the absence of linger
And sometimes you haggle inside lingerie shops
And on weekday nights, when she is all withered
And a nookie is the last thing in her mind
In love, you also barter your bodies
And they call it love making in slow motion
Even in fast forward – to dress two people with happy faces
And sometimes you make book deals
And the publisher gets all the royalty
When a novella is written by tongue-nib on pink pages
Till her culmination in the final chapter
– Just about the perfect ending –
When flamingos fly far far away
Somewhere past heaven……
