Soul Mates

If I could fly away in the dark

Like a bat searching for the fruits of love

If I could heal in flutter and tame the demons of fear

If I could cruise with the wind in my back

Like a renegade mammal

Searching for oneness of two souls

What is precious, devout and patient

What will see beyond the darkness

To catch hold of a spark and metamorphose to a flame

That will never flicker or wither

A love that will carry me, lift me, unburden me

Of all earthly shadows and shades

Where in the flames of togetherness

I will find the warmth of forever
