Love – An Elegy 2

I broke my right hip

Falling down from a balcony

In the heart of Verona

I broke a finger nail

Striking on a nail’s head

Submerged in reveries of love

I broke my sanity

Crashing against glass doors

Of love’s creation

I broke love’s hold on my heart

By following her path of petals

Over and over, down to minefields of nails

I broke everything that was me

And everything that rested beneath me

Until I found a love that could never be broken

By man, fate or god

On the face of a mirror
